Reading Reflection
The book
I’m reading is called Glass by Ellen Hopkins. I’ve noticed a lot of hinting
towards possible hookups and it made me wonder if they were actually going to
happen. The first one was a connection between the main character and her boss,
it made me feel a little bit uncomfortable reading it and thinking what if that
did happen. Eww! I think something will eventually happen later on in the book
because now it’s hinting at a possible “side job” for Kristina (main) and I
think because she is desperate for money she will take it. Another prediction
of mine would be toward another character a preppy cheerleader. It was hinted
that she may do glass as well and I was thinking maybe Kristina and Heather
were going to do it together, apparently not as she moved back after the visit
but I thought to myself what if that was to happen would the mom find out? I
was also wondering if Kristina and her babies dad Brendan would ever see each
other, eventually they did but the dad had no idea that he was the father and I
was hoping maybe he’d step-up but then
again if he’s into the drugs he’s probably not ever going to. So far this book
is really exciting to read the reason I read these books is because they keep me
interested and wanting to read on and looking forward to the next dramatic
thing that happens.
Writing Reflection
So far this class is very
interesting. I came into it thinking it would be a lot of writing but turns out
it’s a little bit of every form of writing. It’s really fun but I find it
annoying how we have to sign up for a lot of sites that I really hadn’t wanted
to sign up for in the first place. I think that I have done my creative doodles
really well they were definitely fun to do and interesting to think over as to
how to write out a list in doodle form. I will probably need to improve on
updating my personal additions a bit more and also my blog in general. As a
next writing project i think it would be fun to draw a scene from the book we
are reading. It will help give the reader and the others that read the post a
visual as to what the characters look like and how they see the story. All in all this course is really fun and i'm looking forward to the rest of it.
Mandy,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are enjoying "Glass". Have you read any other books by Hopkins? What do you think of the writing style/format of the book? What are the benefits and drawbacks of this style of writing? Happy reading!
I have currently read all the Ellen Hopkins books. she also has 2 new ones out that i'm trying to find. As for the writing style I love it,it's easier to read and my eyes don't get so strained from trying to find the one word in a jumble. The drwback is that the books are long and many people won't even think of reading it because it looks like a lot of words. I love how she incorperates shapes and words corresponding to the chapter as well it's very neat.
